I know it's either a love or hate type of thing for people, and right now it's kind of a hate thing for me. Hopefully time and improvement will help with this. At the moment, I probably do a lot more walking than running. There's always that point where I feel like I can't make it any further, and I once heard that if you can push yourself past that moment it does get easier. So I do push myself a little further than I want to go, but it still is difficult.
With the exception of cross country skiing, running burns more calories than any other cardiovascular activity. Running can also prevent muscle and bone loss, fights disease, maintains and improves general health, builds confidence, relieves stress, and improves coordination (this is probably the benefit I like the most).
Just like anything else I'm taking it slow. I'll eventually set some specific goals for myself, but right now I'm just getting my body used to running. Also like anything else I will hopefully learn some better techniques and tips as I go, which will help me improve at this challenge.
