Today I said goodbye to my mom and although this wasn't really a task, it was something that I felt needed to be included here. It is something that won't just affect my life for this year, but for the rest of my life.
As my dad said my mom was a saint. She never did anything wrong, she never hurt anyone, never lied, and was very selfless. He said she lived a better life than most saints did, and I think he was right. I'm not just saying that because she was my mom, but I think she really was a saint.
Here service was really nice. We held it at the funeral home. There was only one small blip when the CD we played started to skip. My brother-in-law said it was probably my mom trying to get us to lighten up a bit.
My nephew Ryan said a few words and I couldn't help but laugh when he introduced himself as 'Grandmas grandson'. He said some very nice things, and said that she will always be with us wherever we went. She would always be in our hearts.
My other nephew Jeff read the story of 'The Golden Footprints' that my mom wrote, and I sang 'In The Garden". I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, but once I got going I felt fine. I had a little help from friends and family during the refrain, which was very nice.
There were lots of flowers, which I know she would have loved, along with tons of pictures. I hate to say goodbye, but I know I will be with her again someday. She is now with her mom, dad and brother along with the rest of her relatives in Heaven.
