One thing I know I said was that I wasn't going to increase my water intake anymore, but sometimes on days like today I really need to make sure I keep myself hydrated. Just because I said I was going to drink 6 12 oz glasses of water a day, doesn't mean I have to stop there. The same goes for any of my tasks; Nothing says I can't take it a step further.
I think in the heat drinking a lot of water is a must, but since I started doing P90X a few days ago I have noticed that I feel dehydrated a lot quicker during my workout.
I actually found some nice tips that can help out on those hot summer days. I might try a few of them.
- Take advantage of cooler times (early morning or the evening) for exercise
- Wear loose fitting clothing in a light color
- Cotton clothing is cooler than synthetics
- Fill a spray bottle with water and keep it in the fridge for a nice and refreshing spritz when you get too hot.
- Even in an airconditioned home a fan can help keep you cool, because the air is circulating
- Keep your lotions in the fridge
- Keep plastics bottles of water in the freezer and save them for when you go outside. As it melts you'll have ice-cold water to drink
- Take frequent showers or baths with cool or tepid water
- Drink plenty of water
- Avoid caffeine or alcohol
- Avoid hot foods and instead eat more fresh fruits and vegetables
- Stay indoors if the heat is unbearable
