Day 103- Put Up the Christmas Tree

Our Tree

For most people putting up a Christmas tree wouldn't be such a chore, but during the month of December my schedule gets so busy; I just don't have time to decorate. But I miss having all those decorations up in my house. So this year I decided to decorate. So I put up my $15 tree I got when I worked at Kohl's, and I hung up all the ornaments. Most of the ornaments were ones I received as gifts, and so the majority of them are music themed. I think the only ornaments I have ever bought were when my husband and I went to Germany.

I always had such fond memories of decorating our tree when I was a kid. We didn't have to go far to pick out our tree. We'd all get on our winter gear, walk out to our yard, find a tree that we all liked, and then my dad would cut it down. That worked out very well for most of my childhood, but trees grow, and eventually the trees began to get too big for even our living room with its cathedral ceilings.

Many people have their own traditions for Christmas, and my husband and I are no different. I'm not sure when or even why we began this tradition, but I began to hide a pickle ornament on the tree, and when I was done decorating the tree my husband always had to search for the pickle ornament. Finding the pickle ornament is an actual tradition, but I'm just not sure where it came from.

Hopefully I will put up some more decorations as the month goes on, but for now the Christmas tree will have to do.

Our pickle ornament.
I made it too easy to find this year.
He found it right away.
