Day 111- An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

There are approximately 2,500 different varieties of apples in the United States; that's a lot of apples. To get the full nutritional benefits from apples you should eat at least one apple a day. While eating any kind of fruit is beneficial, apples have many properties that other fruits don't have.

Some benefits to eating apples are that they contain vitamin C, prevent heart disease, prevent cancers, contain phenols, which help lower bad cholesterol and increase the good cholesterol, prevents tooth decay, protects your brain from disease, and can help with healthier lungs.

If you get bored of the same old apples you could always try different ways to spice it up a bit. Here's an easy little recipe I found that takes only a few minutes to put together.

Apple recipe
1 apple
Cinnamon
Sugar

Slice apple into thin slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar; mix together.
Microwave on high for 90 seconds.
