Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. ~Christopher Robin to Pooh (A.A. Mine)Growing up my oldest sister always called me Piglet. I don't think anyone else ever called me Piglet; it was just her. The funny thing was when I went away to college my sophomore year I had two roommates who also had nicknames from characters off of 'Winnie the Pooh'. They were nicknamed Tigger and Roo. It's funny how little coincidences crop up like that in your life. That is really not the point of this post, but every once in awhile I can't help but reminisce about things like this from my past. It's memories like this that always put a smile on my face.
The quote from 'Winnie the Pooh' is the real point of this post. I love that quote and I think it's a good lesson to live by. I think the main idea is to believe in yourself. And I think throughout this year I have come to believe in myself a lot more. I am more confident than I have ever been and that makes me happier.
I think this quote is also a good lesson in being resilient and that is one thing I think I could improve upon. There are so many bad things going on in this world and it just tears me up inside. The world and my life are changing and it's hard to keep up with everything. I think I need to learn to be that type of person that is more resilient. I always like to see if I can find some advice that will help me with my goals and the following are some tips that I found:
- Have a purpose in your life
- Be positive about any mistakes or failures you make
- Examine your values in life
- Build up your resiliency muscles
- Learn to like change
- Take care of yourself
- Build up your self-esteem
- Be able to lean on friends and family when needed
- Develop skills for problem solving
- Have a sense of humor
I love that the above suggestions are so positive, but I guess that is the purpose. But I think the best advice is what Christopher Robin said to Pooh. In my opinion that just says it all.
